Equine Assisted  Holistic Retreat

Equine Therapy Tanya & Belle.jpg

Equine-assisted therapy (EAT) is a form of therapy that uses horses to help people with physical, psychological, and emotional issues. It can help people with anxiety, depression, trauma,

panic attacks, PTSD, autism, ADHD, and physical disabilities. It also can help with social skills, anger management, confidence building, weight loss, and much more.

The coach/therapist works with the horse and the client to facilitate the therapeutic process.

This can include activities such as just being,

grooming, leading, and fun tasks.

Through these activities, and a bit of paperwork clients can learn about themselves, develop self-awareness and self-confidence, practice communication and relationship-building skills, and gain a better understanding of their limiting beliefs and own emotions.

Studies show that equine-assisted therapy reduces cortisol, the stress hormone. In addition, spending time with animals lowers blood pressure.

The Magic Of Horses

It is that sense, that instinct, and that ability to feel and smell our emotional state, our energy, our love, our fear, our pain our passions, or our intentions that can open up a connection between us.

They can hear our heartbeat from 4 feet away.

The emotional benefits occur through a connection/bonding with the horse and can help a person to develop self-confidence, self-awareness, a sense of accomplishment, and emotional healing.

The ability these animals have to read our body language, open us up and help us connect is a result of their need to be instinctive, being herbivores (prey animals) being alert and noisy is part of their survival mechanism.

The horse's combination of calm, strength/power, and gentleness, conveyed only the way a horse can give anxiety relief and a sensation of security and comfort.

They show us how great teamwork and partnership really feel, plus how easy life can be when we listen to what they have to teach us about ourselves, how to let go of our past negative beliefs that affect our everyday living, and how to become the leader of our own life.

Sometimes, simply being seen and known by another living creature is enough in itself.

Helping Us To Heal

Psychologists have worked with horses to treat numerous conditions for years, including all of the above, and more.

This is what Sharon Went who works for the National Health Service (NHS) in the UK  had to say on the matter "We are receiving amazing feedback and GPs are now suggesting it to many of their patients, men, and women alike of all ages!"
